In partnership with St. Louis Arts Project, CAM presents Concert in the Courtyard: Current. Awarded Riverfront Times’ “Best Collaboration” in 2011, Current is an expansion of the electronic round robin performance. A diverse group of St. Louis’s most talented musicians will converge for a public workshop followed by an improvised call-and-response. Participants include: Lamar Harris; Eric Hall; Syna So Pro; Black James; Ra Cailum; Theolphious Kryptonite; 18andCounting; Loose Screwz; and members of So Many Dynamos.
The open air workshop will take place from 7:30 – 8:30 pm and feature musicians with small versions of their studio or live set-up – complete with instruments and gear – at individual stations in a semi-circle. Attendees are invited to talk with artists one-on-one and learn about their work, gear, technical knowledge, inspiration, and style in an informal setting. After a 30-minute break, the musicians will come back together to perform dynamic, collaborative, and original compositions in small groups in a round robin format.
This program is presented as part of the second annual St. Louis Arts Project (SLAP) conference, held at CAM Friday, June 29 – Sunday, July 1, 2012. From artist-led presentations and performances to interactive workshops, SLAP offers a diverse lineup of free programs that are open to the public. Attendance to the SLAP Conference is $10 (suggested donation) and includes opportunities to attend lectures or discussions on different approaches to art in St. Louis.
